BEACH FUN WITH YOUR DOG

TRAVELING TO THE BEACH WITH YOUR DOG

Hot Summers are here again and we all love to visit the beach with our four legged friends. “Summer, sea, sand and lovely long walks along the beach.” I love taking the dogs to the beach as it can be a fun and relaxing activity, for them and you to do together, but there are somethings you need to consider before you do go to the beach.

Not all the beaches allow dogs, so do make sure before you travel on the local rules and regulations before you make your journey to the beach. Some of the UK beaches have seasonal restrictions or designated areas for dogs.

I have found The Beach Guide very handy as it shows which beaches are dog friendly and where dogs are not allowed to save you a journey that is not wasted. Visit them here https://www.thebeachguide.co.uk/dog-friendly

Always remember to pack on your beach trip for your dog:

  • they favorite toys to play with

  • extra leashes

  • waste bags

  • fresh water

  • shade screen

  • doggy towel

  • dog approved sunscreen

  • dog life-vest

  • dog booties or paw balm

  • first aid kit

Don’t forget these items will keep your dog safe, comfortable and hydrated.

Also protect your pup’s paws from hot sand, sharp shells or glass by using booties or paw balm. After walking you dog on the beach you could also rinse there paws to remove any salt or sand.

If you’re dog is not a confident swimmer you could use a life-vest or if the water is rough. Also keep a eye on them at all times to avoid letting them drink seawater or eat the seaweed.

When your dog runs around on the beach be mindful of any potential hazards or dangers, such as jellyfish, blue-green algae, or mystery bugs that can make your dog sick as there is so much to explore on the beach. If you notice any signs of illness in your dog, contact your vet immediately.

There is so much fun you can have with your dog on the beach! Like playing fetch, dig holes, splash in the water, or take photos of you and your furry friend.

Always remember to respect the other beach-goers and wildlife and leave no trace behind. Be a responsible dog owner!

Have fun with your furry friend..
